Breast Cancer risk factor nutrition
High-fat diets are bad for your health in several ways: for example, they make you more susceptible to cardiovascular diseases (such as heart attacks , strokes ) and diabetes mellitus ( diabetes mellitus ). In addition, estrogen levels increase when you eat plenty of animal fats (sausage, fatty meat, butter, etc.). This increase in female sex hormone increases breast cancer risk.
Risk factors smoking and alcohol
Smoking and passive smoking harm your health in several ways. Among other things, they promote the development of malignant tumors such as lung cancer and breast cancer. Especially girls who start smoking as a teenager have an increased risk of having a malignant tumor in their breasts.
Alcohol is also a risk factor: The more or the more often alcohol you drink, the sooner you will notice breast cancer!
Risk factor genetic predisposition
Experts believe that five to ten out of every 100 breast cancer patients have inherited the genetic predisposition to mother’s or father’s cancer. Hereditary breast cancer is therefore rare .
Especially two genes can significantly increase the risk of breast cancer in a change (mutation). They are referred to as BRCA 1 and BRCA 2 . In addition, one knows some other breast cancer genes. Their influence on the development of breast cancer, however, seems to be lower. Certainly you do not know that yet.

Risk factor dense breast tissue
Some women have very dense breast tissue – less fatty tissue and more glandular and connective tissue. This increases their breast cancer risk fivefold . The reason: the more mammary gland tissue is present, the more cells there are that can degenerate.
How dense the breast tissue is can be determined by mammography . Physicians distinguish four degrees of density :
- Density grade I: fat-transparent, well-transparent breast tissue
- Density grade II: moderately transparent breast tissue
- Density level III: dense breast tissue
- Density level IV: extremely dense breast tissue
The density of the breast tissue depends on various factors. It increases during hormone replacement therapy and decreases during pregnancy.
Risk Factor Ionizing Radiation
Anyone who has received chest radiotherapy in their childhood or adolescence has a slightly increased risk of breast cancer. Such radiotherapy is necessary, for example, in a Hodgkin’s lymphoma. This is a form of lymph node cancer .
Other forms of ionizing radiation, such as radioactive rays and X-rays, can also cause breast cancer and other forms of cancer. Mammary tissue is considered to be particularly sensitive to radiation, especially before and during puberty and before the first full-blown pregnancy. With increasing age, the breast tissue is less sensitive to ionizing radiation.
